157. Booth Philip, Press Officer, Stroud District Green party,
UK
158. Carless Rachel, freelance charity worker, UK
Clementson Julian, UK. Message: Constant vigilance. the very
thing we hold most dear and probably our most significant hard-own
Right-the Right to vote. Tragically, in the "first-world" (I
prefer the phrase "Dependant World" - dependant on
the resources of other less prosperous countries - let's not
start!), this Right is taken for granted, with an increasing
number choosing not to exercise it, for a variety of reasons,
many spurious. Let us at least support those in developing
nations who, as fledgling "democracies" have gone
down the road of enfranchising their people only to suddenly
find those purporting to be in favour of the process, like
the US, don't like the end result. It's happening in South
America - it will be happening a lot more in Africa, the middle
east and Asia. Bring it on! Liberty by stealth.
159. Connelly Guy, The Fallout Trust, UK
Cranston Kevin, Mayor, Stroud Town Council, UK, Message: Ethiopia
is a beautiful country that used to be el sufficient until
the overthrow of Haile Selassie, since then dictators have
ruined it. If the dictators can be replaced by wise Women or
Men then Ethiopia can be healed.

161. Drew Gee, Teacher, Exeter College, UK
162. Fisher Guy, Research and Information Officer, The Gaia

and to live free from fear of reprisals

rights in the UN, UK
168. Martyn, England
169. Matthews, Colin, Mid Devon Green Party, UK
170. Niko Makau, IMC, UK. Message: time has come and indeed,
it is due that Ethiopian Government to feel bound to respect,
honor and promote the mothers of the nation. Of recent days,
we have seen our mothers, sisters, wives and women friends
make extra strides towards development and freedom. The disgusting
thing is the government has always pushed aside any agenda
to promote them. Let UN organs now intervene, the time for
diplomacy or prudence is painfully over. For how long will
our mothers, sisters, wives and friends cry. It is Ethiopia
crying. We used to say Ethiopia first, but what is Ethiopia
first with the half population living desperately, threatened
everyday.
171. Oliver Glover, University of Cambridge, United Kingdom

177. Posey Ed, Trustee, The Gaia Foundation, England
178. Povey Kate, Administrator, The Gaia Foundation, England
179. Phoenix Romayne, Teacher, Green Party, United Kingdom.
Message: The focus by many of us on 'poverty' has to some extent
stifled debate about the structural causes of injustice. The
'problem of poverty' can be more usefully relabeled as one
of sustainability and justice. It is therefore most welcomed
to see the focus in this petition on human rights violations.
The Stroud District Green party fully supports the calls by
this petition to make Human Rights violations history and hope
that it will lead to greater awareness about these issues amongst
the international community, members of Parliaments, politicians,
Human Rights activists and NGOs.
180. Roffey Charles, Loyal Somalilander, Somaliland recognition
action group, UK. Message: I traveled in Ethiopia in September
and October, also Eritrea, Djibouti and Somaliland. Everywhere
we wnet in Ethiopia, and we were there for six weeks, we never
met anyone, apart form a taxi driver or two who was in favour
of the government. Everyone thought the results had been fixed.
Some friends of ours have been locked up, despite having no
political activity. We wandered the streets of Addis, the day
after the governemnt and their forces killed 45 people. The
streets were empty. People were afraid. The country gets so
much foreign aid. They do not exactly need it, as food prices
are held down, and most pof the aid is stolen before it reaches
the needy. They need better government and help give Ethiopia
the leadership they need and deserve

201. Amer, Gebremichael, Advocacy Ethiopia, USA Message: We
believe that Ethiopians can, and need to move forward with
a spirit of reconciliation, respect for the rule of law and

of tension and mistrust that currently prevails in the countryStuart

209. Goeke Anne, Co-Director, Earth Rights Institute, USA.
Message: I am in full support of this petition and again feel
that the international community has failed to address this
issue properly, especially my own government. Innocent people
are again the victims of political greed for power. We must
all do what we can to expose this injustice.

216. Kebede Gartew, Assistant Professor, NASA, USA
217. Kume Tilahun, USA. Message: I strongly believe, without
respect for human right and genuine democracy and leadership
development is unthinkable!! Fighting for human right and democracy
is the moral obligation of all human race on this Earth!!
218. Kebbede Mammo, Engineer, Debo Enterprises, Inc., U.S.A..
Message: Yes, Human Rights violations must be made History
First. Any government that doesn't recognize the five fundamental
rights of its citizens: 1) the freedom to speak, 2) the freedom
to express ideas using the written word, 3) the freedom to
a religious belief, 4) the freedom to peacefully assemble,
and 5) the freedom to petition and redress of grievances, is
not in power for the good of the citizens but for itself. Nothing
positive can be expected from such a government, only havoc.
Poverty and disease are its emblem of achievement. So I say,
let us shout in unison: in order to achieve the UN Millennium
Development Goals and make poverty history, Human Rights violations
should be made History First!!!
219. Kebede Sosena, Physician, USA. Message: This is the litmus
test for western nations who claim commitment to human rights
issues: will they do all they can to end human rights abuse
in poor countries where they seemingly don't have a stake?
History will be the judge.
220. Martyn Amy, individual, United States. Message: Give people
their god given human rights and let them shape their path
for development.
221. Mengistu Meron, Graduate student, Lehigh University, USA
222. Nega Elizabeth, Medical doctor, advocacy Ethiopia, USA.
Message: Please stand with Ethiopians not with the abusive
government.

STOP the killings and abductions in Ethiopia!
228. Whitney Joan, Advocacy Ethiopia, USA
229. Woldie Teshome, self, : U.S.A. Message: ‘….We
believe that in order to achieve the UN Millennium Development
Goals and make poverty history, Human Rights violations should
be made History First’.
SOUTHERN AFRICA
230. Belay Samuel, Private, Southern Africa. Message: Ethiopians
are ready for democracy and development. We are capable of
achieving these goals with little assistance from others. However,
those wealthly (financially but I am not sure if they are also
wealthy morally) nations whose rhetoric has no limits regarding
the importance of democracy and respect for human rights are
making it difficult for us to achieve these goals by supporting
a blatantly dictatorial government in Ethiopia. If you cannot
do any good to people who are starving for their human rights,
freedom and development, please do not do any harm to us either.
